Uganda

Winston Churchill’s immortal words still ring true ” … for magnificence, for variety of form and colour, for profusion of brilliant life – plant, bird, insect, reptile, beast – for the vast scale … Uganda is truly the Pearl of Africa’’.

Uganda is home to the snow capped peaks of the Mountains of the Moon, the Impenetrable Forest, the stunning expanse of Queen Elizabeth National Park and the gorgeous lakes of the Albertine Rift. There are very accessible populations of mountain gorillas and chimpanzees, tree-climbing lions at Ishasha and some of the most spectacular scenery in Africa. Lake Victoria, on the southern boundary is the largest lake in Africa and the source of the River Nile. In the northwest lies Lake Albert – where a boat trip on the Victoria Nile is like a visit to Jurassic Park – massive crocodiles lie amid the spray from the dramatic Murchison Falls. And in the far northeast lies the sprawling Kidepo National Park – a place of dry expansive rugged terrain where buffalo and plains game are bountiful. A night out in the Kidepo wilderness sleeping out under a starry sky while lions roar all about is a primeval and awe inspiring experience!
